Soundblaster Live gameport not working
I have a Soundblaster Live X-gamer sound card . My Joystick is a Microsoft Precsion Pro Joystick (Not USB). In control panel it tells me that my joystick isnt I have downloaded the lated drivers from SB,Microsoft, and i have Direct X 7.0a. Port Driver is Standard gameport and Poll Interuppted is Checked.

How DO you tell if your gameport supports midi input? Can you MAKE it support it through drivers/software or is it hardware? Am I insane for trying to use a Soundblaster Live at all? I have a IntelIII500Mhz WIndows 98 2nd edition with ESS Solo-1 soundcard onboard and a Soundblaster Live! (retail version). I bought a Roland Rhodes synth and a 3 I tried the ESS gameport, same effect. I tried other soundcard, same effect. OK. Different card(s). So it's not the card or IRQ clashes, drivers etc.

used to run it on the onboard audio game port but my new computer doesn't have onboard. I think maybe the port on my sb live might be fried, but I have never used it. Basic Joystick??
There were postings on the Soundblaster Live newsgroup all complaining about the same thing. Seems that Microsoft did release new software for their entire generation of digital joysticks including the Sidewinder Pro 3D, Force Feedback stick and others. The problem was with the Microsoft drivers and BX.
